Going to Vancouver in July

Just in case any of you happen to be in the area: I plan to attend the PKP Scholarly Publishing Conference 2007 in Vancouver from July 11 - 13. I’ll present parts of my work on the eLanguage Project, which is an Open Access initiative in linguistics that is maintained by the Linguistic Society of America. If there’s enough time I’d like to talk about both the practical aspects of that project (for example how we’ve mashed up two publishing platforms, OJS and Wordpress, into one site and how we use RSS to make all content on eLanguage seamlessly available) and about some of the broader implications of Open Access for scientific discourse. And if you’re interested in what some people who are actually important have to say: Raym Crow (SPARC), Anurag Acharya (Google Scholar) and Michael Geist will be among the speakers.
